Electrical Safety Inspections and Audits

Electrical Safety Inspections and Audits

Audit is a systematic and, wherever possible, independent examination to determine whether activities and related results conform to planned arrangements and whether these arrangements are implemented effectively and are suitable to achieve the organization's policy and objectives. The Electrical Audit includes visual inspection, measurement, thermal scanning and evaluation of results to understand the circuit condition and any potential or actual overheating of the circuit. Since poor wiring and use of undersize/oversize protection devices are the common practice, the requirement of standards relating to these has been profusely used. It is a structured process of collecting independent information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the system and drawing up plans for corrective actions. It also examines each stages in the system by measuring compliance with the local standards.

Below are the major stages of Electrical Inspections:

  • Measurement of current, voltage, earth resistance, leakage current etc.

  • Determination of basic circuit status by measuring voltage, current, insulation resistance, earth resistance, leakage current of the various circuits. As per the design of the circuits, these values are referred and any undue differences or abnormalities are noted.

  • Inspection of entire electrical system. Inspection of complete electrical system, section by section, floor by floor, from the service line/generation point to the final branch circuits and load points. Any differences/deviations against the criteria are noted.

  • Voltage Drops and maximum load current checking.

  • Trial run on Generator in Manual / Auto mode (test timing and duration to be decided with your project team.)

  • Assessment of electrical safety measures for plant safety and human safety.

  • Pictures of all areas where lapses are visible are taken.

  • vThermography of all components of the electrical system. The components/circuits having deficiency are specifically covered. Temperature analysis and classification of the lapses are included.

  • Submission of Detail investigation report which consists of inspection findings, requirements standards and recommendations. The third party certification of report can be provided as per project requirements.

Apart from Electrical Audits we provide below various Audit services as per Customer need.

  • Health and Safety Audits

  • Walk Around Audits
